Exning Tennis Club was chosen as one of a limited number of Suffolk organisations and clubs to host the Paralympic Flame as it toured the Eastern region. This honour was in recognition of the work the club has undertaken promoting and supporting wheelchair tennis in the region over the past 15 years.
The club hosted the Paralympic Flame on Sunday 26th August and had over 100 members and guests attend. The event was held as a joint celebration, also recognising the club’s 60th Anniversary. Guests included past and current club members and representatives from a number of organisation including Forest Heath District Council, Suffolk LTA and Anglia Community Leisure.
Refreshments were provided on the day using a 30ft x 20ft marquee. During the day there was informal club play, with a period of One Up/One Down tennis demonstrating wheelchair tennis to the guests. The day concluded with a BBQ for members in the evening.
